Publish, and undo a mistake

The editor saves your work by itself as you go. Your members keep seeing the app as it was until you publish.

Where you stand​

Two small signs tell you:

  • At the bottom of the editor, the bar reads Saved and the time after each change. There is no save button to press.
  • At the top, beside Publish, it reads Unpublished changes when you have changes your members don't see yet, and Published when they see exactly what you see.

Publish​

  1. Check your changes on the phone. See Check it before your members see it.
  2. Press Publish at the top right. Its label says what it does: "Make these changes live for members".
  3. The editor asks Publish to members? and shows how many settings change. Press Publish again to confirm.
  4. Your members see the new version straight away.

Undo a mistake before you publish​

  • Undo and Redo, the two curved arrows at the top, step back and forward one change at a time. On a keyboard: ⌘Z and ⇧⌘Z (on Windows, Ctrl instead of ⌘).
  • History, the clock icon next to them, has a tab called What you changed. It lists every change since you opened your business in the editor, newest last, and marks where you are with You are here. Click any point to go back to it.
  • Discard changes throws away everything you have not published, so the editor matches what your members see again. It is in the ⋯ menu at the top right, and on the Saved versions tab of History. Nothing is lost for good: the discarded work stays in History as Discarded changes, kept here.

Undo a mistake after you publish​

Roll back undoes a publish: your app goes back to how it was just before it, without a new Publish. So you pick the publish that brought the mistake, not the version you want back.

  1. Open History and go to the Saved versions tab. Every publish is listed there as Published to members, newest first, with its date and time.
  2. Find the publish that brought the mistake, usually the top one, and press Roll back on that row. If you pick an older one, every publish after it is undone too.
  3. The editor asks Roll back this version? and says what will change. Press Roll back to confirm.
  4. There is nothing to publish. The screens and wording are back as they were before that publish, and your members get them the next time they open the app.

  • Unpublished changes waiting? Discard them first, as described above. They still hold the mistake, so publishing them later would bring it back.
  • Changes to the logo, icon and app name have their own rows, tagged Brand and install. A Roll back on one of those rows changes only these three, and the other rows leave them as they are.
  • No Roll back button on a publish? Your login needs permission to publish.

Once you roll back, History cannot bring back what your members had before. Check that you picked the right publish before you confirm. If you went back too far, make the changes again and publish them.
